FOOTWORK IN THE GOLF SWING, effects of the JusGo Golf Swing Soles

JACK NICKLAUS has been quoted as saying, “All timing, distance and direction comes out of the lower body with the feet leading the way.” This suggests that the feet, and the foot position throughout the golf swing are of vital importance for consistent and solid performance. Think of a basketball player about to dunk off two feet. The feet plant, and the subtalar joint pronates, and the midtarsal joint locks to provide a stable lever to launch from. The push off strength is best in this position. The back foot in the golf swing needs to have stability, to be rooted or screwed into the ground in this position: slight pronation and to resist rolling into supination as the weight is loaded more onto this back foot. As the ankle, knee and hip externally rotate as the upper body turns, the foot needs to stay stable. This is why I've never understood why a lot of golfers, especially seniors, have started wearing Hoka's, and many are in the softer models, like the Bondi or the Clifton. Hoka is a great shoe for walking and running, but will contribute to lost distance because of the soft and cushy foundation that is trying to generate power through ground reactive forces. Senior golfers accept a loss in distance, but are they compounding the issue with their footwear?

Back to mechanics through the golf swing.

As the weight is loaded onto the back foot and the backswing is progressing, the weight and forces need to quickly be pushed into the ground and transferred to the front foot, which needs to roll quickly into supination as the weight is shifted through impact of the golf ball. There are many excellent YouTube videos on ground reaction force, and so much great research using force plates such as the Swing Catalyst. Using these swing tools, golfers can help train themselves to more effectively use the ground reaction forces to generate power and consistency in the golf swing.

The JusGo Golf Swing Soles are orthotics designed with 7 features that help facilitate proper position in the stance phase at address, and to encourage and optimize proper biomechanics throughout the golf swing. The patent-pending technology is the first of it's kind to have features to place your feet in the proper position as you guide your lower extremity through the golf swing. Many instructors and golf swing enthusiasts know that too many swing thoughts can really cripple a golfer, the one who stands over the ball and take 10 seconds to pull the trigger. It really can be overwhelming: foot position, ball position, width of stance, aim, closed or open stance, grip, weak or strong, or neutral, waggle, pre-shot routine, lie, knee flex, weight transfer to the back foot but without swaying or too much lateral movement, club takeaway, setting the wrists, getting lag, bending the arms at proper angles and timing, club face open or closed, returning club to square at impact, hands forward at impact, taking a divot ahead of the ball, hitting up on driver, in to out swing pathway, don't hit it in the water, don't leave it short, I'm 1 down in this match, why am I here, I should be working!!! There are so many thoughts that a golfer has to simplify, but process, and in as many cases as possible: make it natural, built-in, and automatic. The JusGo Golf Swing Soles do just that. We have tried to make it so you don't have to think about foot position. We have done it for you. You still have to swing properly and get good at golf. We just help optimize one important part of the total output.

Our initial testing is convincing, with results showing consistent increases in clubhead and ball speeds, increased distance, and reduced dispersion. But I've also found a really important result, which is less standard deviation in length of shot. So your 9-iron doesn't go 115-140 depending on a good strike or a less-good strike. The JusGo Golf Swing Soles are proving to increase consistency of strike and flight distance. So your 9 iron becomes more consistently 128-132, putting you on the green more often. Who doesn't want more GIR?
